Bubble Tea for Universities, Student Unions and Workplace Cafés

Ning Ma

TeaJoy is already served on campus at Manchester Metropolitan University, University College London and the University of Glasgow, at Wafflemeister on two more campuses, and in Tokio Marine Kiln's London office. A campus shop or student union can sell our 330ml cans straight from the chiller, and a campus or workplace café can make our commercial kits to order in around 20 seconds.

Students and office staff are very different customers, and the people serving both are busy. Here is who serves TeaJoy already, which format suits which setting, and how to order.

Which universities and workplaces serve TeaJoy?

Our where to buy page lists these:

  • Manchester Metropolitan University, main campus
  • University College London, main campus
  • University of Glasgow, main campus
  • Tokio Marine Kiln, London office
  • Wafflemeister at the University of the West of England and at Warwick University

Campus and workplace outlets are not always open to the public, so check before you visit. Beyond campuses, our commercial kit has gone to national names such as Creams, Las Iguanas and Compass Group, and TeaJoy is served in more than 800 UK locations in all.

Cans for the campus shop

Our wholesale page calls TeaJoy "a favourite with Gen Z", and lists "university shops and corporate catering" among the places it suits. The can is the easy way in for a campus shop or a student union:

  • It is grab-and-go: a sealed 330ml can with popping boba inside and a paper straw attached, taken straight from the chiller.
  • It needs a chiller and nothing else: no preparation, no staff training.
  • Each can has 2.0g of sugars per 100ml, about 6.6g and 29 kcal in the whole can.
  • It prints vegan, gluten free, allergen free and halal on both flavours, Peach & Mango and Passionfruit & Strawberry.
  • Cases of 12 keep for 24 months from production, so stock bought before a holiday is still in date when term starts.

There is no opened boba to use up and nothing to make. Why young shoppers pick up a canned bubble tea is set out in canned bubble tea Gen Z will buy.

The kit for a campus or staff café

If a student union café or a staff restaurant wants bubble tea as a drink made to order on the menu board, the commercial kit is the format. Each box has the tea syrup or tea powder, the boba, cups, lids and jumbo straws, plus a window sticker, a strut card and a training manual; the fruit kits add a measuring cup and a ladle.

A drink takes around 20 seconds, made up in the cup to order, with no boiling and no specialist kit. Your team needs ice, water, and milk or a plant milk. Fruit teas use 50ml of syrup measured from the bottle into 300ml of water; the Classic Milk Tea uses a tea powder sachet stirred into 300ml of milk or plant milk, with instant tapioca pearls that need no cooking.

The kits come in Classic Milk Tea, in boxes of 10 or 40 drinks, and three fruit teas, Mango & Passionfruit, Passionfruit & Strawberry and Strawberry & Mango, in boxes of 20 or 80. Sealed, they keep for 24 months; opened fruit syrup and boba keep for 30 days, with the boba in the fridge. Which flavour to start with is set out in fruit tea or milk tea.

Why it suits campus and workplace catering

For students: our wholesale page calls TeaJoy a favourite with Gen Z, and the can is chill and sell, with no staff time.

For workplace cafés: a bubble tea on the counter is a point of difference from the usual coffee and soft drinks, made to order without new equipment.

For catering teams: both formats keep for 24 months from production, the whole range is vegan, gluten free, allergen free and halal, and neither needs specialist equipment or bubble tea training.
