I dreamt of joy...

TeaJoy was born from Ning’s love of bubble tea and a simple idea: make it easy and accessible for everyone to enjoy. Her passion for food and hospitality began while running a supper club with her mum inspired by family recipes. The concept later grew into MamaLan, a thriving Chinese street food restaurant. When the pandemic sparked a surge in bubble tea demand, Ning discovered how tricky it was to make. So, she did what any creative entrepreneur would do, and invented a better way!

A chance meeting on the Tube brought Ning together with co-founder Jack, and together they set out to share TeaJoy far and wide. Together they turned a lockdown kitchen experiment into an award-winning brand with millions of cups served bringing bold flavours and joyful sips to fridges everywhere.

Sourcing TeaJoy

We source our tea from the Taichung region in western Taiwan, nestled in the foothills of the Xueshan mountains. Grown on small holdings that support the local community, this region is known as the heartland of Taiwanese tea. It produces some of the most fragrant leaves, making every sip of TeaJoy authentic and full of flavour.

Origins of Bubble Tea

Created at Chun Shui Tang Tea Room in Taiwan in the 1980s, when Lin Hsiu Hui accidentally added tapioca to his tea. It quickly became the team room's most popular drink and was copied across Taiwan. The craze spread through Asia, reached the US in 2005, and was introduced in the UK in 2011.
