Where Is TeaJoy Made, and Who Makes It?

Ning Ma

TeaJoy is a London company. It was founded by Ning Ma, who started it in the kitchen of her MamaLan restaurant in Brixton, and her co-founder is Jack Gaskin. Our kits are made in Taiwan and our cans in Vietnam, for Tea Joy Ltd, of 17a Electric Lane, Brixton, and our tea comes from the Taichung region of western Taiwan.

Here is who founded it, where it started, the company behind it, where the packs are made and where the tea comes from.

Who founded TeaJoy?

Ning Ma, a former restaurateur, and we are a female-founded brand. Ning was frustrated by how complicated and slow it was to serve bubble tea in a restaurant, so she developed her own recipes to make it simple, consistent and joyful. A chance meeting on the Tube brought Jack Gaskin into TeaJoy in 2022, and he is our co-founder.

Where did TeaJoy start?

In a restaurant kitchen in Brixton: Ning's, at MamaLan, during the first lockdown. What began as a fix for one restaurant became our commercial kit, an all-in-one way for cafés, restaurants and leisure venues to serve bubble tea. The home kits came next, then the ready-to-drink cans. Our kits cut drink preparation from 2 hours to 20 seconds, and we became the UK's first mainstream bubble tea supplier.

Today TeaJoy is served in more than 800 UK locations and thousands of homes, and we have sold 2.5 million drinks. In 2025 we were named London Food & Drink Startup of the Year at the UK StartUp Awards.

Who is the company behind TeaJoy?

TEA JOY LTD, a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 13516630. Companies House shows it was incorporated on 18 July 2021, with its registered office at Impact Brixton, 17a Electric Lane, London SW9 8LA.

Where are TeaJoy products made?

The kits in Taiwan and the cans in Vietnam. Every home kit and every café kit box prints "Made in Taiwan" and "Made for Tea Joy Ltd, 17a Electric Ln, London SW9 8LA". The cans are made in Vietnam and carry the same Brixton address. In November 2025 our team travelled to Taiwan and Vietnam for taste tests and factory visits while developing the current recipe.

Where does TeaJoy's tea come from?

From the Taichung region in western Taiwan, in the foothills of the Xueshan mountain range. In 2023 Ning and Jack flew to Taiwan to find the leaves, grown on small mountain farms, and we still visit to meet the people who produce our tea. Bubble tea itself emerged in Taiwan in the 1980s, so the tea in our drinks comes from the drink's home country.
