How to Describe Bubble Tea on Your Menu: Lines You Can Copy
Ning MaShare
To describe bubble tea on a menu, name the drink, say what is in the cup and what the topping does, then add the dietary tags. Below are lines you can copy for TeaJoy's four café kit drinks and our two cans: a one-liner, a 20-word line and the tags for each, all worded from our own packs.
Putting bubble tea on the menu is the easy part; describing it is harder, and whatever the menu leaves out, your staff explain at the counter. TeaJoy is a UK bubble tea brand of cans, home kits and café kits, served in more than 800 UK locations.
What should a bubble tea menu description say?
Three things, in a line or two. Name the base and the fruit, say whether the topping bursts or chews, and set the dietary tags beside the name, so the answer is on the board before a customer has to ask. A good line does three jobs:
- Explain what it is to customers who have never tried it.
- Make it sound good to customers who have.
- Answer the dietary question before anyone asks it.
Every line below does all three, with taste words from what bubble tea tastes like and the pairings from bubble tea flavours explained, so the board promises nothing the cup does not hold.
Menu lines for the four café kit drinks
Our commercial kits make one milk tea and three fruit teas. The milk tea is black tea powder stirred into 300ml of milk or plant milk, with instant tapioca pearls. Each fruit tea is 50ml of syrup, made with fruit juice and a jasmine green tea flavour, in 300ml of water, with popping boba.
Classic Milk Tea
- One line: Creamy black tea with milk and chewy tapioca pearls.
- 20 words: Black tea stirred into milk or plant milk, the tea coming through under the creaminess, with dense, chewy tapioca pearls.
- Tags: the box prints vegan and allergen free for the tea powder and pearls. You add the milk, so the drink is vegan with a plant milk and carries any allergen your milk carries.
Mango & Passionfruit
- One line: Mango fruit tea with passionfruit popping boba.
- 20 words: Mango syrup with mango juice and a jasmine green tea flavour, light and fruit-forward, with passionfruit popping boba bursting through.
- Tags: Vegan, allergen free, as printed on the box. Made with water.
Passionfruit & Strawberry
- One line: Passionfruit fruit tea with strawberry popping boba.
- 20 words: Passionfruit syrup with passionfruit juice and jasmine green tea flavour, fruity and refreshing, with strawberry popping boba in every sip.
- Tags: Vegan, allergen free, as printed on the box. Made with water.
Strawberry & Mango
- One line: Strawberry fruit tea with mango popping boba.
- 20 words: Strawberry syrup with strawberry juice and jasmine green tea flavour, mixed with water, light and fruity, with mango popping boba.
- Tags: Vegan, allergen free, as printed on the box. Made with water.
Menu lines for the two cans
The cans need no making up: 330ml, sealed, with a paper straw attached. The can prints 30% fruit juice, 2% green tea extract and 10% popping boba, and gives one instruction: "Chill and shake well before serving."
Peach & Mango can
- One line: Peach and mango green tea with popping boba, chilled in a can.
- 20 words: Succulent peach and tropical mango that read as fruit first, over a light green tea base, with popping boba inside.
- Tags: Vegan, gluten free, allergen free, halal: all four printed on the can.
Passionfruit & Strawberry can
- One line: Passionfruit and strawberry green tea with popping boba, chilled in a can.
- 20 words: Zesty passionfruit and sweet strawberries, more citrus-forward than the peach, on a light green tea base, with popping boba throughout.
- Tags: Vegan, gluten free, allergen free, halal: all four printed on the can.
"Chilled in a can" tells the customer there is no wait. The can format is a feature, not an apology.
Which dietary words can go on a bubble tea menu?
The words the pack prints. Every TeaJoy can and kit is vegan, gluten free, allergen free and halal: that is our statement for the whole range. The cans print all four; the café kit boxes print "vegan & allergen free", and the rest is our statement.

Three rules for bubble tea menu copy
Lead with texture as well as flavour. The appeal of bubble tea is the contrast between a smooth drink, a clear flavour and a texture that does something unexpected. Leave out the burst or the chew and you sell half the drink.
Put the dietary tags on the menu, not in a conversation. A plain "Vegan" or "Halal" beside the name answers the question before anyone reaches the till.
Keep to one or two taste words a drink. "Creamy" works. "The ultimate fully loaded creamy dream" does not.
Questions people ask
Is TeaJoy bubble tea vegan?
Yes. Both cans print vegan, and every café kit box prints vegan and allergen free. The Classic Milk Tea box says "just add milk / plant milk and ice", so that drink is vegan when made with a plant milk.
Which TeaJoy drinks have popping boba, and which have tapioca pearls?
The cans and the three fruit café kits use popping boba. The Classic Milk Tea kit uses instant tapioca pearls, which need no cooking. How the two differ is in popping boba vs tapioca pearls.
Does TeaJoy bubble tea contain caffeine?
Our cans and milk tea kits contain a small amount of caffeine from tea: green tea extract in the cans and black tea in the milk tea powder. Our fruit tea kits contain traces of caffeine.
